Ty Wenger wrote an article for the WebMD Feature from "Redbook" Magazine that I found interesting called, "11 'Don't-Tell-the-Wife' Secrets All Men Keep". Here are the 11 secrets but I encourage you to read the complete article for more details.
Secret #1: Yes, we fall in lust 10 times a day -- but it doesn't mean we want to leave you
Secret #2: We actually do play golf to get away from you
Secret #3: We're unnerved by the notion of commitment, even after we've made one to you
Secret #4: Earning money makes us feel important
Secret #5: Though we often protest, we actually enjoy fixing things around the house
Secret #6: We like it when you mother us, but we're terrified that you'll become your mother
Secret #7: Every year we love you more
Secret #8: We don't really understand what you're talking about
Secret #9: We are terrified when you drive
Secret #10: We'll always wish we were 25 again
Secret #11: Give us an inch and we'll give you a lifetime
A friend of mine actually told me about Secret #2 before. I remember we were chatting about dancing and how my then husband does not dance at all. He even humiliated me at a wedding by insisting that we be the only couple that sat out the last dance for the evening, even after all his friends teased us to get up and go. Anyway, I've begged my husband to go to dancing lessons with me and even tried to negotiate by saying, "I will play golf with you if you go dancing with me."
My friend Chris laughed so hard when I said this. He said that, if I was trying to really get my husband to go dancing with me, threatening to go with him to play golf is the worst thing to do. He said that I should offer to send him to Hawaii or to Monterey instead as a trade. Guys don't really want their wives to go to golf with them because it's their only excuse to get away from the house. Made perfect sense after Chris told me that. I wished my ex-husband had the balls to tell me that himself.
