As you may have heard, Sydney Pollack died today at the age of 73. I don't usually gush over celebrities dying or anything like that. However, I really have to pay my respects to this man who shaped my love for movies as a director, producer and actor. Mr. Pollack is so much part of my life that even my kids know who he is.
Out of Africa is my favorite movie, not just for the story but also for how the cinematography was woven so intricately with the acting. How about The Way We Were, Three Days of the Condor, and Tootsie. What would modern American cinema be without the influence of these new classics.
Thanks, Mr. Pollack. You will be sorely missed in my world. Here's a link to Entertainment Weekly's great homage.
