A Quiet Jubilation

It’s the eve of my birthday and I’m celebrating it exactly the way I want to. I came home to an empty house (the first time I’ve been really own in the new place) and quickly got in my pajamas. It was still bright out so I shot some hoops at the front yard (barefoot and in my PJ’s) to the horror of my new neighbors.

I installed my wireless network at home so I can surf the net, watch TV and make dinner at the same time. Tuned in to “So You Think You Can Dance” for the 2-hour season opener (after the auditions), eating my chicken adobo with rice. Yum (both for the dancing and the food).

Exchanged greetings with some of my online buddies (hello you!), made my Starbucks Pike’s Place Market coffee and now I’m sitting down with my joe and Madeleines French cakes (or are they cookies?). The best way to eat Madeleines is by dunking them in coffee with lots of cream or hot chocolate.

I’m totally in heaven in right now. Next on the agenda is a chat with my son (who just arrived home from the movies), maybe a phone call from my daughter (who is in Hawaii), and read a couple of the letters Edward left for me. A shower and shampoo will be the crowning activity for the evening.

The perfect way to get ready for the festivities coming up for the weekend, don’t you think? I still have a lot of Madeleines here at home – I baked a very large batch the other day – so come on over if you want some. They’re pretty good but not the best (Madeleines require a lot of care to make and I’m just not patient enough). And I still have half a pot of really good coffee.
